Listed below are links to weblogs that reference (ISC)2 Moving to Computer-Based Testing Over Next Three Years:

    Comments

This is such wonderful news to hear. I thought I had went back to high school for another exam when I took my CISSP exam.

I agree that is is good news, I think computer testing will provide for a more streamlined process.

This is a very surprising move but a positive one overall.

Does this means that the cost of the exam will decrease?

After all getting an exam on Pearson Vue consist of a fix fee initially and then it is VERY inexpensive per exam that take place.

This could also extend to our yearly maintenance fees. If portion of it is done by Pearson Vue then it could allow ISC2 to decrease those fees as well.

We will see what the future holds but I think it is a move in the right direction if proper controls are implemented and due diligence done.

    Take care

    Clement

What is the benefit to the member of waiting 24 hours?

Are you seriously making them wait, just because previous CISSPs had to wait and no other reason.

This sounds like sour grapes and just a little sadistic. As a professional organisation, you should be above this.

If you can tell them straight away, then tell them!!

I have to agree with Mr Wren above. I do not understand the 24hr waiting period. Bring the exam into the 21st century and tell the candidate if he or she passed immediately. That is the right thing to do.

I do not agree with this type of test being computer based. I would not want to stare at the screen for 5-6 hours.

With the current paper based system, OMR grading could be done in the testing center with grades available immediately. My son has this in is high school today. This is not a difficult technology to work with.

I was happy to take the exam using traditional paper and pencil. Short tests are ok for computer based testing, but longer exams need to consider the ergonomic & fatigue factors.

When will the CISSP be computer based???

Personally, I would not want it computer way. Staring at computer screen for 6 hours & possibility of lots of malpractice will surely take down value of CISSP.

My humble request to ISC to reconsider this online thing & stick to paper-pencil exam, Results can be a lot faster in case of more resources to validate answer sheets.

As Clement said, “if proper controls are implemented and due diligence done” This is highly difficult considering past & present situations. There are parts of the world where people (Read Testking etc) are ready to grab it by fixing cams behind computer & make so called dumps ready as soon as exam is over.

    Please do read these ones.
This is an older case but still valid as all such sites exists in 2010

    This is recent case.

I have nothing against any country or exam centers but considering 10 years history, it would make ISC exams more vulnerable.

My humble request to Mr. Hord Tipton,

Please do reconsider this decision. I am a CISSP & I would not like to see its value going down due to such instances.

These are my personal opinion, feel free to contact me at email submitted.

Request to moderator- If you can not approve my post then please do forward it to Mr. Hord Tipton.

We will see what the future holds but I think it is a move in the right direction if proper controls are implemented and due diligence done.

Living in a European country where English is not the primary language, we usually have to wait about 6 months to be able to schedule the CISSP exam. If it goes electronic, we'd be able to do the same whenever we want. Big advantage!
Also no need to go the only big city of the country to pass the exam = no more fees for the hotel room and the transportation.
    Good Idea!!
